Climate:		Approximately 18 inches of potential evapotranspiration compared to 16 inches of precipitation. Heaviest precipitation occurs in late summer/early autumn. Approximately 70 inches of snowfall per year. Summer temperatures range from the 60's to 70's, and winter temperatures range from the 10's to 20's.

Project Description/ Purpose:		The full-scale ET cover is being installed as the final cover over an unlined MSW landfill, which operated from 1951 until 1992.
Regulatory Status:		Other Regulatory Status:
Monitoring System:		Monitoring is limited to groundwater leachate monitoring and gas monitoring. Additionally, results from the demonstration ET cover at this site will be used as an indicator of water percolation through this cover. A lysimeter is also included.

Design of Cover:		From the surface downward: 2 feet of sandy loam forest soil (water holding capacity=3.6 in/ft) over varying depths of silty gravel with sand (water holding capacity=1.1 in/ft).
Types of Vegetation:		Cottonwood, poplar, aspen, and willow trees
Cover Installation:		Forest soils placed in single 2-foot lift during Summer 2004 and continuing in Summer 2005. Tree planting scheduled for Summer 2005.
